NHP/CSM V9.1 models

Last updated: 23 May 1999

New mailing list for anyone interested in any R/C flight sims, not just CSM. See RCsim list page for more information.

Just Flash RS, a pattern plane this time.

I have given up converting helis received as V10 back to V9. It has to be done manually and those which are set up with HH gyros (most) never seem to fly very well after being converted. Planes are still o.k. If there are any specific V10 helis that you need in V9 format please email me.

Problems running V9 on a fast Pentium II PC ? Check on the main CSM page for possible solutions.

The programs and models on this page are for Version 9.1 only. They will not work with V10 which has its own swapper built in and uses a different format.

The FREE program below will save individual model setups (planes or helicopters) from Version 9.1 of the NHP/CSM simulator, allow you to load models saved by someone else and to delete any you don't like or are bored with.

There are separate versions of the program for 16bit (Win 3.x) and 32bit (Win 95/NT). Please download the correct one for your system. If you're not sure use the first one (CSM1) which will run on any Windows system.

CSM1.ZIP (16 bit / Windows 3.x version) approx. 110K

CSM2.ZIP (32 bit / Windows 95/NT version) approx. 110K

See below for some planes or helicopters to download and don't forget to save your model profiles and send them to slewin@hotmail.com for everyone else to share.

Plane profiles

Version 9.1 only. I have checked that all the planes files below load and fly. But when you are reading my comments remember that I'm only just learning to fly and I don't really know what I'm talking about. You need to try them yourself. SL

NOTE ! You need the free CSMSWAP program (CSM1.ZIP or CSM2.ZIP) to install these profiles in to the Flight Simulator. If you don't already have it, get it now.

All planes This link downloads all the planes described below as a single zip file called allp.zip (18K). You still need to load them into CSM one at a time (next release perhaps)
Flash_RS.zip Flash RS is a YOSHIOKA pattern plane with OS 91 (Nikos D - Greece)
40Extra.zip 40% Scale Extra 300. I've lost the other details of this model, sorry.
cg_chip1.zip Carl Goldberg Chipmunk with OS91, version one of 2. See which you prefer. (Benedikt Eriksson)
cg_chip2.zip Carl Goldberg Chipmunk with OS91, version 2 of 2. See which you prefer. (Benedikt Eriksson)
Caprise.zip Caprise pattern plane designed by Christophe Paysant Leroux. Sim setup by Stanley Chan. Torque rolls really well !
Carrera.zip Carrera 46 sports plane. I have no details on this but it flies o.k.
dynamite.zip Speed 400 pylon racer (our first real electric).
Wonder.zip SIG Wonder. It doesn't look much like on but I'm told it fly just like the real thing.
TF182E.zip Top Flite Cessna 182 (Frank L). This one is pretty gentle. Makes a good trainer (is that what it's intended to be ?)
cgschip.zip Carl Goldberg Super Chipmunk (Frank L). As sent in this needed full flap to even fly so I've modified it quite a lot. I would welcome some feedback on how realistic it is now. SL
P40E.zip TopFlite P40E Warhawk with a Super Tigre G-75 (Bart Asher). Nice model which flies in a reasonably scale-like fashion. I.e. no prop-hanging or 6ft diameter loops.
Martha5.zip Miss Martha 5, a quick building sports model from StarCad Plans. Model design by Terry Dench, Sim setup by Steve Lewin. Entered from the plan, to see how it might fly. I've assumed a sporty .40 engine. This plane will do just about anything you ask of it.
Weekendr.zip Weekender, a profile FunFly from StarCad Plans. Model design by Guy Fuller, Sim setup by Steve Lewin. Entered from the plan dimensions, to see how it flies before I build one. I've assumed a reasonable .40 engine. Try it then built one. It goes like a good 'un.
Champion.zip Thunder Tiger Champion 45L with Webra 50 Speed (Ronald Hedstrom). First one in from Sweden. It flies very nicely and seems pretty realistic SL
EMC2.zip A Dick Hanson EMC 2 pattern plane (Bob Pastorello). Bob says he's still tweaking it but it looks pretty good to me SL
Xtra300S.zip 33% Extra 300S with 3W80 gas engine (Bob Dunsire). It doesn't fly for long (CSM seems to get the fuel consumption way too high) but while it's going it's brilliant SL
BigStik.zip GP Big Stik with an OS 46 (Rusty Alford)
Freebee.zip Freebee is an own design low wing sports model by John Smith (sent in by Sean Donno)
DeltaThing.zip This one is "an attempt at a pure flying wing" but there are limits to what you can get into the CSM parameters. (Sean Donno)
BigOne.zip Big One pattern plane (Don Atwood). Don says "To get 'BigOne' to take off, you have to VERY gradually advance the throttle. Let the airplane accelerate slowly, take your time. It will eventually get enough speed to take off."
Epicure.zip Epicure. Another pattern plane from Don Atwood. Check out Don's add-on field for pattern flying below.
Typhoon.zip Typhoon 2+2. Another pattern plane from Don Atwood.
texgiant.zip Texas Giant. 200" wingspan, weighs nearly 20 lbs, 5.67 HP engine (David Patino). David says "Hi here's a model I just made real quick. Kind of nice. It's a biggie." He's not joking ! SL
stinger.zip Stinger 60 with a Super Tigre 91. Too much for my feeble flying skills. Try it out. SL
FlairCub.zip Another Cub, this time from the Flair kit with an SC 40 (Chris Holder). I even managed to land this one. I think I'll get a Cub. SL
MeanMac.zip Mean Machine. This is a 60" span aerobatic plane with an SC 40 as featured in Aviation Modeller, a UK magazine (Chris Holder).
p51.zip P51B Mustang. You all know what a P51 is. This one, with an ST 45, is again from Aviation Modeller (Chris Holder).
cgcub.zip CG Cub Clipped wing with a Saito 80. This one is a nice gentle flyer.
easysprt.zip GP Easy Sport 40 ARF with a OS.46 FX
raven.zip Global Raven Profile. This is a hot one. SL
plane1.zip Chris Foss UNO-WOT aileron trainer with MDS 25 engine (Steve Lewin). This is included in CSMx.ZIP above.

Helicopter profiles

I have checked that these helicopter files at least load and do something. But I know even less about flying helicopters than I do about fixed wing planes. You need to try them yourself. SL

NOTE ! You need the free CSMSWAP program (CSM1.ZIP or CSM2.ZIP) to install these profiles in to the Flight Simulator. If you don't already have it, get it now.
All helicopters This link downloads all the helicopters described below as a single zip file called allh.zip(11K). You still need to load them into CSM one at a time.
Nexus30.zip Another Nexus30 for you to try (Roy Voorend)
Skyfox-sx.zip Vario Skyfox SX aerobatic from Roy Voorend
Evo-S.zip Vario Evolution S from Roy Voorend
NexusSR.zip Kyosho Nexus 30 SR with OS 32
whisper.zip Kalt Whisper. Our first electric helicopter setup from Bas Ladru in the Netherlands
Hawk30X.zip Century Hawk 30 with OS323H (Bob Panesar). THis laso incluides the definition files needed to make the heli model LOOK like a Hawk. Please read the enclosed hawk30.txt file before using these.
MosiEx.zip Robbe Moskito Expert. 2 versions with different blades in this one file (Sean Donno)
mhd1.zip MH Design Maverick XR+, 62cm NHPs, NovaRossi 50, Fast servos (Nick Salmon). Note: All of Nick's models use anti-clockwise rotation.
mhd2.zip MH Design F1 Carbon 46, 62cm NHPs, OS 46 FX, 15% Nitro (Nick Salmon).
mhd3.zip MH Design F1 Carbon 60, 71cm NHPs, NovaRossi 61, Fast Servos (Nick Salmon).
gph346.zip Hirobo GPH346 (Joe Balsamo). I don't have any details of this yet but when I first tried it, most of the servos were reversed for my setup. Exciting ! SL
ConceptDX.zip Concept DX with OS28 (Blair Stearn). Blair says "While the parameters I gave were taken from measuring my Concept DX, the original purpose was to get the sim to fly just like the real chopper. I have since found that the best way to do this was to turn down the rotor speed as well (less throttle at half stick)."

Any problems, enhancement requests, models you'd like added to the list or just general comments on the swapper program or the models please mail me at slewin@hotmail.com
