CSM V10 models

Last updated: 22 January 2000

Latest : Really big CAP232 by Henry J Muska
Proevious : Limbo Dancer (fun fly plane) from Nick Beard

At last someone else has been brave enough to build a heli visual. The SSM42 is escribed as a fantasy heli.

New mailing list for anyone interested in any R/C flight sims, not just CSM. See RCsim list page for more information.

All models on this page are for Version 10 of the CSM simulator. They will not work with any earlier versions.

As I'm sure you've noticed V10 allows you to set up the colours of the models yourself. Most these models were converted from v9.1 and converter does not set up any colours. I have set them up with very basic (red/blue) colouring so they are at least flyable (all black is very hard to see). You can have hours of fun making them look really cool.

To add the models you get from here into your simulator you only need to unzip them and copy the files into the appropriate directory. I.e. /ALIB (planes, .asp files) or /HLIB (helicopters, .hsp files). When you set up some models of your own and want to share them just send the .asp or .hsp file together with a brief description.

See below for some planes or helicopters to download and don't forget to save your favourite model profiles and send them to slewin@hotmail.com for everyone else to share. Thanks.

Plane profiles

Version 10 only. I have checked that all the planes files below load and fly. But when you are reading my comments remember that I'm only just learning to fly and I don't really know what I'm talking about. You need to try them yourself. SL

All planes This link downloads all the planes described below as a single zip file called allp.zip (28K). When you have unzipped them just copy them into /ALIB.
CAP232.zip CAP232 120in span, 15HP (Henry J.Muska). Henry says "It's able to hover very well." It feels a bit sluggish to me but perhaps it should. I've never flown nearly that size in "real life". SL
Limbo.zip Balsacraft Limbo Dancer. This is a Fun Fly type plane so you can really throw it about (Nick Beard)
WOT4.zip Chris Foss WOT 4 Classic. This one is mine so is set up with fairly gentle control throws and a Thunder Tiger GP42. You can increase the power and throws to liven it up a bit. (Steve Lewin)
Alpha180.zip Protech Alpha 180 electric glider. Flys o.k. on full power or with engine stopped but tickover is not too realistic. (Steve Lewin)
LazyBee.zip Clancy Aviation Lazy Bee, 48" span extended wing version, electric powered (Robert Dwyer, AUS)
ALF037.zip A 20 year old 3 channel trainer by Gary Maclean (NZ). Zips around nicely.
3ch.zip Another 3 channel model, this time a generalised vintage type by Wayne Weedon. You may want to fiddle with the downthrust and incidences to get rid of some of the attitude change with power.
Flash_RS.zip Flash RS is a YOSHIOKA pattern plane with OS 91 (Nikos D - Greece)
FNHot.zip Not a real model I think, just a simulation of a small model with a huge engine. Check out the speeds it will go though only for short while.
40Extra.zip 40% Scale Extra 300. I've lost the other details of this model, sorry.
cg_chip1.zip Carl Goldberg Chipmunk with OS91, version one of 2. See which you prefer. (Benedikt Eriksson)
cg_chip2.zip Carl Goldberg Chipmunk with OS91, version 2 of 2. See which you prefer. (Benedikt Eriksson)
newdelta.zip Updated version of delta.zip which now runs correctly in V10
Caprise.zip Caprise pattern plane designed by Christophe Paysant Leroux. Sim setup by Stanley Chan. Torque rolls really well !
Carrera.zip Carrera 46 sports plane. I have no details on this but it flies o.k.
dynamite.zip Speed 400 pylon racer. Our first real electric from Bas Ladru in the Netherlands.
Wonder.zip SIG Wonder. It doesn't look much like on but I'm told it flies just like the real thing.
KTrain.zip Kyosho Trainer 40 with GMS .47 (Steve Lewin). For an ARTF trainer this flies very well and I know it's realistic in the sim because it's mine.
TF182E.zip Top Flite Cessna 182 (Frank L). This one is pretty gentle. Makes a good trainer (is that what it's intended to be ?)
cgschip.zip Carl Goldberg Super Chipmunk (Frank L). As sent in this needed full flap to even fly so I've modified it quite a lot. I would welcome some feedback on how realistic it is now. SL
P40E.zip TopFlite P40E Warhawk with a Super Tigre G-75 (Bart Asher). Nice model which flies in a reasonably scale-like fashion. I.e. no prop-hanging or 6ft diameter loops.
Martha5.zip Miss Martha 5, a quick building sports model from StarCad Plans. Model design by Terry Dench, Sim setup by Steve Lewin. Entered from the plan, to see how it might fly. I've assumed a sporty .40 engine. This plane will do just about anything you ask of it.
Weekendr.zip Weekender, a profile FunFly from StarCad Plans. Model design by Guy Fuller, Sim setup by Steve Lewin. Entered from the plan dimensions, to see how it flies before I build one. I've assumed a reasonable .40 engine. Try it then built one. It goes like a good 'un.
Champion.zip Thunder Tiger Champion 45L with Webra 50 Speed (Ronald Hedstrom). First one in from Sweden. It flies very nicely and seems pretty realistic SL
EMC2.zip A Dick Hanson EMC 2 pattern plane (Bob Pastorello). Bob says he's still tweaking it but it looks pretty good to me SL
Xtra300S.zip 33% Extra 300S with 3W80 gas engine (Bob Dunsire). It doesn't fly for long (CSM seems to get the fuel consumption way too high) but while it's going it's brilliant SL
BigStik.zip GP Big Stik with an OS 46 (Rusty Alford)
Freebee.zip Freebee is an own design low wing sports model by John Smith (sent in by Sean Donno)
Delta.zip This one is "an attempt at a pure flying wing" but there are limits to what you can get into the CSM parameters. (Sean Donno) And I can't get this one to work at all in V10, it crashes the program. You're welcome to try it if you like.
BigOne.zip Big One pattern plane (Don Atwood). Don says "To get 'BigOne' to take off, you have to VERY gradually advance the throttle. Let the airplane accelerate slowly, take your time. It will eventually get enough speed to take off."
Epicure.zip Epicure. Another pattern plane from Don Atwood. Check out Don's add-on field for pattern flying below.
Typhoon.zip Typhoon 2+2. Another pattern plane from Don Atwood.
texgiant.zip Texas Giant. 200" wingspan, weighs nearly 20 lbs, 5.67 HP engine (David Patino). David says "Hi here's a model I just made real quick. Kind of nice. It's a biggie." He's not joking ! SL
stinger.zip Stinger 60 with a Super Tigre 91. Too much for my feeble flying skills. Try it out. SL
FlairCub.zip Another Cub, this time from the Flair kit with an SC 40 (Chris Holder). I even managed to land this one. I think I'll get a Cub. SL
MeanMac.zip Mean Machine. This is a 60" span aerobatic plane with an SC 40 as featured in Aviation Modeller, a UK magazine (Chris Holder).
p51.zip P51B Mustang. You all know what a P51 is. This one, with an ST 45, is again from Aviation Modeller (Chris Holder).
cgcub.zip CG Cub Clipped wing with a Saito 80. This one is a nice gentle flyer.
easysprt.zip GP Easy Sport 40 ARF with a OS.46 FX
raven.zip Global Raven Profile. This is a hot one. SL
plane1.zip Chris Foss UNO-WOT aileron trainer with MDS 25 engine (Steve Lewin). This is included in CSM.ZIP above.

Helicopter profiles

Version 10 only. I have checked that these helicopter files at least load and do something but I know even less about flying helicopters than I do about fixed wing planes. You need to try them yourself. SL

And now another heli visual to play with, this time from Rob Hartsink in Holland. Like Torsten's it will work with any heli mechanics you care to use (i.e Load Model then Select Helicopter Visual). Just for a change this is a model of a LEGO SYSTEM Helicopter.

LEGO SYSTEM Helicopter (Nr:6462).

Helicopter visuals by Torsten Schoenitz. Most of the full size helis were set up to use the TK Mystar 46 mechanicals but you can use them with any other heli simply by loading the heli you want and then selecting the body style from "Select Helicopter Visuals" in the CSM main screen.

Torsten has put a lot of work into these setups and would appreciate you letting him know you are using and enjoying his efforts. He also now has his own heli web site going. Screen shots of all his models plus other useful info.

Set 3. Contains data for Eurocopter EC-120 Colibri, Eurocopter EC-135, MD-520 Notar and MD-900 Explorer. Download forCSM3.zip here.

Set 2. Contains data for JR Ergo 50, Kyosho Nexus 30, Henseleit TreeDee and ThunderTiger Raptor. Both mechanical setups and visuals are included. Download forCSM2.zip here.

Set 1. Contains data for TSK MyStar46, Hughes 500 D, Bell UH-1D and Bell AH-1W. All based on MyStar 46 mechanics but see above for changing to your own model. Download forCSM.zip here..

All helicopters This link downloads all the helicopters described below as a single zip file called allh.zip (11K). When you have unzipped them just copy them into /HLIB.
LMH110.zip You guessed it, this is an LMH 110 with Norvel .061.
VarioS.zip Vario Evolution S by Bev Friend
Skyfox_SX.zip Vario SkyFox SX Aerobatic, from Roy Voorend
FutSS.zip Futura SS, OS61SXWC, 680 V-Blades (Fritz Blackburn)
XCell46.zip XCell 46, OS46FXH, NHP600, heavy fuselage model with Bell 222 body (Fritz Blackburn)
NexusSR.zip Kyosho Nexus 30 SR (converted from V9)
Nexus32.zip Kyosho Nexus 30D with OS32SX
Ergo46.zip JR Ergo 46 3D from Aaron Martin (now with improved dynamics and colours)
Ergo60.zip JR Ergo 60 3D also from Aaron Martin
whisper.zip Kalt Whisper. Our first electric helicopter setup from Bas Ladru in the Netherlands
Hawk30X.zip Century Hawk 30 with OS323H (Bob Panesar).
MosiEx.zip Robbe Moskito Expert. 2 versions with different blades in this one file (Sean Donno)
mhd1.zip MH Design Maverick XR+, 62cm NHPs, NovaRossi 50, Fast servos (Nick Salmon). Note: All of Nick's models use anti-clockwise rotation.
mhd2.zip MH Design F1 Carbon 46, 62cm NHPs, OS 46 FX, 15% Nitro (Nick Salmon).
mhd3.zip MH Design F1 Carbon 60, 71cm NHPs, NovaRossi 61, Fast Servos (Nick Salmon).
gph346.zip Hirobo GPH346 (Joe Balsamo). I don't have any details of this yet but when I first tried it, most of the servos were reversed for my setup. Exciting ! SL
ConcepDX.zip Concept DX with OS28 (Blair Stearn). Blair says "While the parameters I gave were taken from measuring my Concept DX, the original purpose was to get the sim to fly just like the real chopper. I have since found that the best way to do this was to turn down the rotor speed as well (less throttle at half stick)."
